This rhythm activity uses "clusters" of notes played on the black keys. A "cluster" is formed when two or three notes are played simultaneously.
Instructions:
- Watch the instructional video “Rhythmic Notation: Whole, Half, Quarter Notes and Rests."
- Practice tapping each rhythm without audio until it feels comfortable. Use your left hand for the three black-key cluster and your right hand for the two black-key cluster.
- Choose an audio track from the media playlist.
- Listen to the track several times to develop a feel for the style.
- Play each example on the designated black-key group along with the audio.
