Reading

These reading examples focus on the three coordination motions—simultaneous, overlapping, and alternating.

For each example:

  1. Identify the key and hand position.
  2. Scan the entire example for intervals, patterns, articulations, dynamics, and tempo.
  3. Observe the slurs carefully and determine the type of coordination before playing.
  4. Establish a tempo and play without looking at your hands.
