These reading examples focus on the three coordination motions—simultaneous, overlapping, and alternating.

Watch the video: "Developing Basic Coordination: Three Basic Motions" before beginning.

For each example:

  1. Identify the key and hand position.
  2. Scan for intervals, patterns, articulations, dynamics, and tempo.
  3. Observe the slurs and identify the type of coordination required before you begin playing.
  4. Establish a tempo and play without looking at your hands.
