Harmonization

Harmonization

Bingo is a children’s song of Scottish origin. In each new verse, the first letter sung in the previous verse is replaced with a clap.

The harmonization uses the primary chords (I, IV, V7) and a ii6–V7–I cadence. Listen carefully to identify when these chords and cadences are heard in the audio track. Then, create your own arrangement based on what you hear.

Instructions:

  1. Listen to the "Real" track and identify the chord changes.
  2. Write the chord changes on the "Rhythm Worksheet" where they occur in each measure.
    • Be sure to locate the ii6–V7–I cadence.
  3. Use the “Melody” track to check your choices by playing the root note of each chord along with the track. Do they fit the melody?
  4. Choose a voicing style and write your harmonization on either the "Melody" or the "Two-Handed Accompaniment" Worksheet.
  5. Play your harmonization hands together or accompany a singer.
