Duet 2 - Jazz Swing (Gb pentatonic scale, 4/4 time).

Db pentatonic hand position


Each pair will create four "question" and "answer" phrases in 4/4 time using the play-along track "Jazz Swing." There is a two-bar count-in. Listen to the play-along track several times before playing to be sure that you 'feel' the progression. 

Student 1 will improvise a 4-measure "question" using any notes of the black key pentatonic scale.

  • The "question" MUST end on the dominant note - Db. 

Student 2 will improvise a 4-measure "answer" using any notes of the black key pentatonic scale.

  • The "answer" MUST end on the tonic note -Gb.

VARIATION: The rhythm of the "answer" must match the rhythm of the "question" exactly.
